DotOrg Committee Code of Conduct

The purpose of the BLUG/LFNW DotOrg Committee Code of Conduct is to ensure, foster and nurture a friendly, fun, creative, non-hostile and safe environment for participants in BLUG's organizing committees and between its liaisons and members of other institutions or the public.

BLUG and LFNW believe that the strength of the open source community is from the participation of all stakeholders. As volunteers, we collaborate for pleasure.  Past a certain point, if it ceases to be fun we just leave. We can never know whose minority viewpoint, lost to our cause through a thoughtless act, would have been vital to the success of a good project.

To these ends we agree to abstain from behavior that is offensive to other participants and attendees, regardless of intentions.  We are dedicated to providing a friendly, harassment-free experience for everyone. This includes discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.

We will not tolerate harassment or undesirable behavior in any form. This includes intimidating, bullying, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, demanding, or demeaning behavior or conduct.

Participants asked to stop any undesirable or harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please do the following:

  1. Contact any BLUG/LFNW board member in person or by email ( as soon as possible. The board will acknowledge receipt of the complaint and begin the resolution process within 7 days of receipt.

  2. The board will work with the reporting party and the alleged offender to attempt to resolve the issue. The board may require those involved in an incident to suspend their participation in BLUG/LFNW activities until the matter is resolved.

  3. At the board’s discretion, the matter may be referred to the full LFNW DotOrg Committee.  The BLUG/LFNW organizers may take any action they deem appropriate.
