BLUG meeting “Linux Games” this Thurs, Dec 2nd

This Thursday Dec 2nd, at BTC, in room D5, from 7pm til 9pm will be our regular public meeting of the Bellingham Linux User Group.
This month’s meeting will be dedicated to Linux games.
Bring your favorite Linux Game to show off, play and discuss. You can bring your favorite Linux gaming box with your game installed or have a BLUG Linux gamer expert help you install that pesky game. Bring some computers and set up a LAN party! Be creative! This should be a lot of fun!
We’ll also have our usual Linux Q&A session and a Linux/OSS news report.

This Thursday Nov 4th, at BTC, in room D5, from 7pm til 9pm will be our regular public meeting of the Bellingham Linux User Group.
This month features a presentation by Jakob Perry on using Drupal as a replacement for OpenOffice Base or Micro$oft Access.He will discuss the differences, portability, and other reasons one might want to go with Drupal instead of M$ Access.
You won’t need to have any database knowledge in order to follow along.
We’ll also have our usual Linux Q&A session and a Linux/OSS news report.
BLUG meeting on “Titanium” this Thurs Oct 7th@BTC

This Thursday Oct 7th, at BTC, in room D5, from 7pm til 9pm will be our regular public meeting of the Bellingham Linux User Group.
This month features a presentation from John Blanford on Mobile Application Development with Titanium:
“Titanium is a cross platform mobile development environment from Appcelerator (http://www.appcelerator.com/). With Titanium apps can be created that run on iPhone, iPad, Android and soon Blackberry devices. Titanium is open source under the Apache 2.0 license. I will talk about how Titanium works and my experience using it to create a prototype application called the Learning Minute. This application uses JSON-rpc to talk to a Drupal based back end.”

Thursday Sept 2nd, at BTC, in room D5, from 7pm til 9pm will be our regular public meeting of the Bellingham Linux User Group.
This month features a presentation from Brian Lawler on Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) and OpenSource :
Brian “will do a quick overview of what amateur radio is and where it came from, followed by some live demos of open source communications programs that run on Linux. I will be using pre-recorded audio for the signal source since setting up radios and antennas would be pretty time consuming”.
We’ll also have our usual Linux Q&A time and Linux/OS news report.

Thursday August 5th, at BTC, in room D5, from 7pm til 9pm will be our regular public meeting of the Bellingham Linux User Group.
This month features a presentation from our own LFNW OSCON 2010 Liaison Team members who’ve just returned from Portland promoting LFNW 2011 at the 2010 O’Reilly OpenSource Convention.
Check out the OSCON Exhibit floor, on the upper right side of the photo you’ll see the LFNW booth with our “Thunderbird Tux” Totem.

Our OSCON team will be giving out free OSCON bags, that contain magazines and coffee mugs, to all that attend the meeting.

Reminder: Regular DotOrg Committee Folks, and anyone else interested in participating in BLUG and LFNW planning, the next meeting of Blug’s DotOrg Committee is this Thurs July 8th, 7pm til 9pm, at Jakob’s.

We’ll have our regular Linux Q&A session and general discussion followed by a presentation by Iain Davidson on Android.
Iain’s presentation:
“Android application programming platform presentation will include a quick video overview, several selected slides from LFNW 2010 presentation, quick overview of several programming features, and finally a demonstration of Eclipse Android platform programming environment. Time for questions and answers will also be available.”

BLUG Reminder:
This Thursday April 1st is our open to the community BLUG meeting. It will be in room D5 at BTC, from 7pm til 9pm.
Our presenters this month are Fred Williams and Brian Pate.
Fred will be presenting an entertaining review of his journey from a “World of Windows” to Linux.
Brian will be giving a condensed overview of Microsoft’s SUA (Subsystem Unix Application) and how he sometimes uses it at work.
We’ll also have our general Q&A session, Linux in the News report and much discussion about our upcoming event LinuxFest Northwest 2010.
Looks like a another great meeting to bring some interested friends to.
Blug’s DotOrg Committee mtg Thurs Mar 11th

Our monthly meeting of Blug’s DotOrg Committee is this Thursday, Mar 11th, from 7pm til 9pm, on the 2nd floor, in the Cordata Local Roots Room of the Community Food Co-op at Cordata.
Remember, LFNW 2010 is getting closer and there’s much Fest related work yet to be done.
Those interested in becoming involved and helping with LFNW or BLUG planning, etc. are welcome.
Reminder, if you want snacks or beverages buy them downstairs in the Food Co-op and take them up to the meeting room.
