Are you an aspiring developer, network engineer, or student looking for a platform that can do “all the things”? Looking for a training tool to become the next DevOps engineer for your company? Want to learn how to use Docker in a cluster environment but don’t have the budget to buy professional grade equipment? Don’t know where to start your trek into the land of containers and clusters?
This tutorial will guide you through the process of purchasing the inexpensive hardware – clear through to deploying applications and services on your own pico-cluster. We will demonstrate this using Raspberry Pi’s and other similar single board computing components – within a working person’s budget.

John’s Presentation:
I will talk about the next wave of the cloud called serverless computing. With serverless, code can run in the cloud without the developer needing to provision and maintain virtual servers. I will talk about how the serverless approach fits into the larger cloud ecosystem and go over some examples of using the open source Serverless Framework (https://serverless.com/) to deploy and manage code.

Our city has underutilized public fiber resources and several local Internet Service Providers eager to deploy high speed broadband, like they have in Mount Vernon, yet this is held back by rules and regulations that have not kept pace with technology.

Joshua D. Drake is a PostgreSQL Consultant and has been consulting on PostgreSQL since Postgres95. Throughout his PostgreSQL career he has performed a variety of functions within the community including releasing an O’Reilly book on PostgreSQL, being part of the sysadmins and advocacy teams. Further he ran a biannual conference series dedicated to PostgreSQL between the years of 2007 – 2011. He is a former Director for SPI (the non-profit for PostgreSQL.org). Lastly he is also a Founder of United States PostgreSQL and a current Director for Postgres Foundation.
